To save space, the backs of most loft and bunk beds are placed up against a wall.  Because of this, we use plywood for the back rail, which is wider than the front rail and gives the loft extreme support and stability.  If you are planning on placing the bed away from the wall so the back is visible and if you want the back to look exactly like the front, we have an Enhanced Solid Back Rail available.  It replaces the plywood back with a solid 2x6 back rail (same as front rail).  We will also include the Back Safety Rail when you purchase the Enhanced Solid Back Rail with a tall loft bed so you will have safety rails on both the front and back of the loft.

When using the Enhanced Solid Back Rail, the holes that are drilled into the front and back rails are at a higher location on the rail.  The front rail will be positioned 3" lower than normal, however, you will get the same amount of headroom above and underneath the bed slats.  If this is confusing please give us a call at 866-739-2331 and we can review it with you.
